From the beginning, we wanted Element to reflect not only the traditions that inspired it, but also the city we call home. Fredericksburg is filled with talented artists, woodworkers, makers, and craftspeople whose creativity and passion help make this community so special.
Throughout the studio, you’ll find original artwork, handcrafted wood features, and thoughtful details created by local artisans who generously shared their talents with us. Their work is part of what makes Element feel warm, welcoming, and uniquely Fredericksburg.

Ulrike (Ulli) Mueller
Featured Artist
Ulli was born 1967 in Pegnitz/ Germany. After rigorous training culminating in her becoming a master hairdresser and 10 years of gaining experience, she stepped into and took over the family hairdressing business. She transformed it and grew it successfully for 20 years before moving to the USA.
Since then she focused on becoming a full time artist. Her natural creativity, her experience with tens of thousands of haircuts and her intricate knowledge and feel for the color wheel and how colors work together gave her a head start with creating art. She is fascinated by the use of different paints like water based or acrylic on a variety of different materials. In her new journey as a self taught artist, she paints to challenge herself. She is driven by her intuitiveness and spontaneity. Her paintings are emotional outbursts of discharged energy, a constant search of chaos and order, always focused on the creative moments and allowing it to be just enough. Her inspirations are nature, architecture, people, culture and most of all emotions.

Courtney Burke

Courtney Burke is a fine artist whose work exists at the intersection of hand pyrography and oil painting. Her process begins with fire—decisive linework burned directly into wood panels, creating a permanent structure within the surface. Layers of oil paint then introduce color, movement, and emotional depth, allowing both precision and expressiveness to remain visible.
Entirely self-taught, Courtney has developed her craft through years of disciplined practice and a deep respect for her materials. Each piece represents a balance between her artistic disciplines, brought together through a process that is uniquely her own.
Courtney produced a commissioned painting inspired by the Austrian Alps prominently displayed at the front entrance.
Gabriel (Gabe) Pons

Gabriel Pons is an artist, designer, and co-founder of PONSHOP, a gallery and creative space located in historic downtown Fredericksburg. Since opening PONSHOP in 2010 with his wife, Scarlett, Gabriel has helped foster a vibrant community centered around the belief that creativity builds connection.
A lifelong artist and skateboarder, Gabriel has been exploring and refining his creative talents since the age of thirteen. His work spans a wide range of mediums, from murals and site-specific installations to custom paintings and skateboard designs, always bringing a distinctive blend of artistry and thoughtful design.
Gabriel created Element’s logo and visual identity, helping capture the spirit of the studio through a mark that reflects simplicity, balance, and connection. His contribution is one of many examples of the local craftsmanship and creativity that helped bring Element to life.
Through his work and his commitment to the arts community, Gabriel continues to enrich the cultural fabric of Fredericksburg and inspire connection through creativity.
